Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the National Vehicle Scrap Policy. It was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this year’s budget, it was considered very important to take the country forward in the auto sector and economy. But what is this policy, how much and how will it benefit, you can understand all these things in just 10 points.
The first was announced in the budget, after the arrival of the Modi government, there was talk of bringing the vehicle scrappage policy for a long time. But this year when Nirmala Sitharaman announced it in the budget, it became clear that now the policy of sending old vehicles to junk will come this year. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched it on Friday.
What Vehicle Scrap Policy?
Due to this policy, vehicles older than 31 months in the country will have to undergo their fitness test and this test is the condition of the engine and the status of fuel efficiency of the vehicles. It will be on many parameters like safety, if old vehicles fail in this test then their registration will be canceled and those vehicles will be sent for scrap.
What is the limit for the vehicle?
According to the vehicle scrap policy, commercial vehicles older than 10 years and private passenger vehicles older than 15 years will have to undergo a fitness test. It will be mandatory for the old vehicles coming on this list, even if the vehicle is passed the fitness test, it is necessary to get their registration renewed.
There will be less pollution in cities
In cities like Delhi, the problem of fog is more frequent during the winter days, while the condition of the vehicle is not so good even in small cities. With its scrap policy, the government has to remove old vehicles from such cities, which spread more pollution, now in the country, new vehicles come in line with it and it reduces pollution.
The cost of petro will also come down now
The purpose of vehicle scrap policy is to change the fuel efficiency of vehicles: Old vehicles are made according to that technology, the technology of those vehicles for the last 15 to 20 years. Such vehicles have been proven in technology. And the fuel efficiency of new vehicles has also improved significantly. On March 18, 2021, Union Minister for Border Transport Rajnath Mithun Kri said in Parliament that the scooter he had in 1974 was 24 km/l. Used to give the mileage of 60 to 70 kilometers per liter, now the scooters that come in the market give the mileage of 60 to 70 kilometers per liter.
promotion of electric mobility
Modi government is vigorously promoting electric vehicles, where Fame 2 gives subsidies on the purchase of such vehicles, while the state government is giving separate subsidies. And in such a situation, out of the vehicles that will be removed from the road from the vehicle scrap policy, a large part of them is expected to be made of electric vehicles. This will reduce pollution, secondly, the fuel cost of the customer will be reduced and third country import will also be less.
What is the benefit to the common man from the vehicle scrap policy?
The government named the Vehicle Scrap Policy as Voluntary Vehicle Modernization Formula i.e. VVMP: If someone’s vehicle fails in the fitness test, then he will have to submit his car to 60 to 70 registered scrap fascination made across the country. Instead of giving the old car, he will get a deposit certificate and on buying a new vehicle, he will get the benefit of many benefits, he will get the scrap value of the old car. Which will be equal to 4 to 6 percent of the showroom price of the new vehicle.
